Physicians

David O. Danis, MD
David O. Danis, MD, is the esteemed President of North Shore Pediatrics and has dedicated almost three decades to enhancing pediatric care since joining the practice in 1996. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin. Then he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine, graduating with honors as Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Danis further honed his expertise during his residency at Boston Floating Hospital for Children, where he was honored to serve as Chief Resident. He also serves as the Chief of Pediatrics at Lahey Beverly Hospital.
As a Board-Certified Pediatrician, Dr. Danis is committed to providing exceptional care to children in the Boston area. His dedication to pediatric health extends internationally, as he has participated in medical outreach initiatives in Bangladesh, Peru, and Haiti. His contributions to medical education have been widely recognized, earning him numerous accolades that reflect his commitment to teaching.
On a personal note, Dr. Danis is married to Christine Danis, MS, PT, a respected physical therapist. They reside in West Newbury and are proud parents of four sons, recently celebrating the arrival of their first grandchild, a lovely baby girl. In his leisure time, Dr. Danis enjoys traveling, skiing, and performing with a musical band. He primarily practices at our office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, where he continues to make a significant impact on the lives of children and their families.

Shannon L. Dufresne, MD
Shannon L. Dufresne, MD, is a dedicated partner at North Shore Pediatrics, having joined the practice in 2010. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the esteemed College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, before advancing to earn her Medical Degree from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Dr. Dufresne completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth, where she actively engaged in the impactful CHaD Advocacy Project and the Hanover Diversion Program, supporting troubled adolescents. Her passion for caring for children of all ages truly shines through in her practice, and she finds joy in traveling and spending meaningful time with her family.
With a commitment to providing exceptional care, Dr. Dufresne is married and a proud mother of two. She is available for appointments in our office on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Maureen Mathews, MD
Maureen Mathews, MD, is a partner at North Shore Pediatrics, where she has made a significant impact since joining the practice in 2004. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, as well as a Master of Public Health, a Master of Arts in Medical Sciences, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Boston University School of Medicine.
Dr. Mathews completed her postdoctoral training at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children and is board-certified in Pediatrics. Additionally, she has served as a clinical fellow in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Her commitment to excellence was recognized during her training when she became a member of Alpha Omega Epsilon, a prestigious graduate honor society.
In her personal life, Dr. Mathews is the proud mother of three boys. She enjoys swimming and skiing with her family. Dr. Mathews is available for appointments in our office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, where she provides exceptional care for her patients.

Filza Kita, DO
Filza Kita, DO, joined the dedicated team at North Shore Pediatrics in July 2023, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in pediatric medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Emory University in Atlanta. She furthered her education with a Master of Science in Microbiology and Immunology from the esteemed Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. Kita received her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2019, followed by a rigorous residency in Pediatric Medicine at Baystate Children's Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Before she arrived at North Shore Pediatrics, Dr. Kita sharpened her skills as a pediatrician at Gruenwald & Comandatore Pediatrics in Millburn, New Jersey, where she built a reputation for providing compassionate and effective care. She is married to Timothy, a Pediatric Emergency Room physician, and they share their home with two beloved dogs. In June 2025, they proudly welcomed a baby girl, adding to their vibrant family.
Dr. Kita is committed to her patients and is available for appointments in our office on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Her expertise and passion for pediatric care make her a valuable addition to our team, and we are excited to have her serve our community.

Todd M. Sanderson, MD
Todd Sanderson, MD, proudly joined the medical staff at North Shore Pediatrics on September 9, 2024. A native of Wakefield, he and his family are thrilled to be returning to New England after an enriching experience in New Orleans, where he excelled as a primary care provider at Ochsner Health Center for Children. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he distinguished himself as the Rotation Director for the Residency Continuity Clinic and as a dedicated Clinical Preceptor, shaping the next generation of pediatricians.
Dr. Sanderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Boston College and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from UMass Chan Medical School. After completing an impactful residency at Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, he practiced in Pittsburgh, PA, before heading to New Orleans.
Dr. Sanderson is a devoted husband and father of two, deeply committed to providing exceptional care to his patients. He is available for appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, ready to make a positive difference in the lives of children and their families.
Nurse Practitioners

Cody Deeds, CPNP
Cody Deeds, CPNP, is an essential team member at North Shore Pediatrics, bringing extensive experience and expertise. He holds a Bachelor’s and a Master of Science in Nursing from Regis College in Weston, making him a highly qualified Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Since joining the practice in December 2021, Cody has delivered exceptional care to our patients.
Before his role at North Shore Pediatrics, Cody developed his skills as a pediatric nurse practitioner in a primary care setting and excelled as a registered nurse at renowned acute care facilities, including Beth Israel Deaconess Needham and UMASS Memorial Medical Center.
Cody's passion for care extends beyond the clinic. He resides in Gloucester with his wife and their dog, Coastal. He enjoys home improvement projects and is an avid surfer, cyclist, kayaker, and paddleboarder.
Cody is dedicated to meeting his patients' needs, offering appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from April through September. During the fall and winter months, he is available on Mondays and Fridays, with urgent care appointments also offered on weekends. His commitment and diverse skill set make him a valuable asset to the community and a trusted advocate for children's health.

Caroline Gioulis, CPNP
Caroline Gioulis, CPNP, is an integral North Shore Pediatrics medical staff member, bringing expertise and passion to her role. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College in 2010 and a Master of Science in Nursing in 2013. Further enhancing her qualifications, Caroline completed a prestigious fellowship in Adolescent Health at Boston Children's Hospital in 2019.
As a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, she joined North Shore Pediatrics in January 2022, ready to make a difference in the lives of her young patients. Before her current role, Caroline dedicated nine years as a pediatric nurse practitioner at Sturdy Pediatric Associates in Attleboro, where she enhanced her skills and built meaningful relationships with families.
Residing in Medford, Caroline balances her professional life with her passions. She is married, has a beloved dog, and owns an aesthetic business. Excitingly, she is also expecting a baby girl in 2025. In her free time, Caroline loves to travel, read, dive into true crime stories, and cherish moments with her dog, Fibber. She is available for appointments in the office from Tuesday to Friday and is ready to support families with her knowledge and compassion.

Nicole True, CPNP
Nicole True, MSN, APRN, CPNP, brings a wealth of expertise to the medical staff at North Shore Pediatrics. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Fitchburg State College and a Master’s in Nursing with a Pediatric Concentration from Maryville University, she is a dedicated Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who joined the practice in April 2023.
Before her impactful role at North Shore Pediatrics, Nicole enhanced her skills as a Registered Nurse at the prestigious Boston Children’s Hospital. She shares her knowledge as an adjunct clinical faculty member at Salem State University and actively supports students during overnight school trips. She also spends part of her Summer at Camp Rotary in Boxford, MA.
Outside of her professional commitments, Nicole is a devoted mother of two daughters and a loving pet owner of two dogs named Boomer and Willy. She passionately embraces her role as a soccer and dance mom and enjoys reading and creating cherished memories on the boat with her family. Nicole is available for appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, ensuring she is here for families when they need her most.

Aaron Brown, CPNP
Aaron Brown, MSN, CPNP, is a highly respected medical team member at North Shore Pediatrics, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience in pediatric healthcare. With an undergraduate degree in Economics focused on Community and International Development, Aaron possesses a distinctive understanding of how health impacts communities on a broader scale. Following invaluable experience in New York City, he earned his Master of Science in Nursing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the renowned Yale University School of Nursing.
Before joining North Shore Pediatrics, Aaron made a significant impact at Optum Medical in Lake Katrine, New York, where he delivered outstanding primary care to children of all ages, from infants to adolescents. His hands-on experience has equipped him with the skills and compassion necessary to effectively meet the diverse health needs of young patients.
Originally from Worcester, Massachusetts, Aaron is thrilled to return to his roots and establish his home on the North Shore. In 2025, Aaron and his wife, an accomplished nurse-midwife, joyfully welcomed their first child into the world. Aaron enjoys watching stand-up comedy, hiking, cooking and enjoying time with his family. He sees patients in the office on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and his unwavering commitment to children's health will create a positive and lasting impact on the families he serves in the community.

Christine Danis, MS, PT
Christine Danis, MS, PT, is a dedicated Concierge Physical Therapist with a specialization in personalized, one-on-one care for pediatric and adult patients. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from Saint Louis University in 1990 and later obtained a Master's degree in Orthopedics from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in 1997. With extensive knowledge and expertise, Christine offers comprehensive rehabilitation solutions for injuries and postoperative care.
In addition to rehabilitation, Christine focuses on injury prevention, performance enhancement, and optimizing movement patterns. She conducts thorough biomechanical evaluations for each patient, offering personalized hands-on treatment and individualized exercise prescriptions. Utilizing cutting-edge tools and technology, Christine aims to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
With a decade of experience as an Impact-trained and certified Physical Therapist specializing in concussion treatment, she leverages her extensive background to ensure her patients receive the highest quality of care. Christine is married to Dr. David Danis, the President of North Shore Pediatrics, and they are proud parents of four sons, residing in the vibrant community of West Newbury.
